I have been plagued by dark under-eye circles ever since I was a teenager. As a matter of fact, when I was a young teen, I bought my first makeup product (aside from lipstick, of course), and it was a concealer.

Since then, I've never gone without concealer in public (I'm not kidding!!) even when playing tennis -- that's over 40 years. And on the very rare occasion when I didn't have time to apply concealer, I wore sunglasses!!! The dark circles really bothered me.

I have spent my entire career in the makeup and skincare industry, including two major jobs where I got to be the boss, working as a Senior VP of Product Development at both Lancôme and Revlon. Partly because of my deep insecurity, I extensively researched the causes of under-eye circles and while many think they are just caused by lack of sleep, the reality is that there is so much more going on including allergies, thinning skin under the eyes, smoking, inherited genes, the aging process, hyperpigmentation, to just name just a few.
