My Honest Review Of Gym+Coffee’s Athleisure Wear
I’m nowhere near pro-athlete status, but I love to go out for a run and get my blood pumping. It’s even better when I get a workout session in with a few mates.
Back in the day, I used to throw on my old sweatpants and any t-shirt to exercise. However, now my style has changed a lot and I want my kit to match. My dream workout gear looks great, feels amazing, and is good for more than just a quick run.
I looked online at a ton of the big-name sports brands but their activewear not only hit above my budget, but nothing had the casual edge I was looking for. The last thing I wanted to do was rush into a big purchase under pressure, so I kept searching.
Then one Saturday at my weekly yoga class, my friend Mia walked in wearing the comfiest hoodie. I couldn’t stop staring - the material looked amazing and then she let me feel it. I needed to know where she got.
Mia said she’d just gotten the Lilac Fleck Hoodie from Gym+Coffee (gym plus coffee she told me). They’re an Irish-based athleisure clothing and lifestyle brand, and she actually found out about them after seeing that Niall Horan, of One Direction fame, is an investor and advisor to the company.
Apparently, the hoodie wasn’t her only purchase either - her entire outfit was Gym+Coffee! She had on their leggings, sports bra, and t-shirt. After yoga, we headed out to grab a cup of coffee and Mia looked so good, still in her Gym+Coffee attire. I, on the other hand, had to duck into the locker room to change out of my old sweats and ratty t-shirt.
Gym+Coffee looked great on Mia, but I still wasn’t sure about the brand beyond the look. Was durable, versatile, and stylish enough to be worth the investment? I went on their site for a little more clarity before taking the plunge.
Turns out Gym+Coffee has clothes for both women and men, and it's more than just stylish activewear. They’re all about community, hosting free in-person workout classes, and even sponsoring big events like WellFest UK, Summer Social, and the Great North and Great South Runs. I love that Gym+Coffee goes beyond what's on the rack to bring people who love being active together.
Their line ranges from £25 for essentials to £100 for jackets (plus loads of accessories to boot). Definitely more affordable than some of the big names like Lululemon and Sweaty Betty that I tried before, but still had that premium quality I was looking for.
I decided to embrace the Gym+Coffee style with a couple of things. They shipped my order which arrived in no time, and I got to try them on straight away.
The Chill Pullover in Seafoamfit perfectly! It’s made with the softest blended cotton fabric, thumbhole cuffs, and the cherry on top: zip-pockets. It feels almost impossible to find great women’s apparel with secure, roomy zippered pockets these days. The white trim is super stylish, with the added Gym+Coffee detail subtly on the sleeve.
I tested out their Swift High-Rise Legging in Royal Blue when I went to spin class and they did not disappoint. The fabric is incredibly lightweight while still being supportive in all the right places. They’re sweat-wicking, breathable, non-see-through (big win), and made with a high-waist and curved back-seam detail so they’re totally flattering too. Just like Mia, I kept my Gym+Coffee on to meet some mates at a cafe right after.
I’m head over heels for this athleisure brand. When you hold their clothes, you can feel the luxe materials they’re using and know it's going to last. Gym+Coffee is even committed to sustainability by offsetting 100% of their carbon footprint using recycled materials in 30% of their line (striving for 50% by 2025), and only using compostable packaging.
I can’t believe I ever doubted Gym+Coffee, now that I practically live in their line 24/7.
Whether I’m working out, running errands, grabbing a bite with friends, or just at home on the couch - their athleisure gets me through it all in comfort and style.
