How I Stay Committed To Paleo

Deciding to commit 100% to a new lifestyle is not easy, I know. I tried Paleo twice before finally being able to take it on. Imagine eating clean for 20 days straight, flushing toxins out of your body and then ruining it by eating processed, bleached wheat. Of course it took a toll on me. My girlfriend, Skylar, was totally onboard when I told her I was ready to fully commit to Paleo - no more excuses. It was important for us to make the change. She was doing research online about how to stay on track when she found Green Chef - the solution to our Paleo dinner dilemma.

We've all heard about these new, mainstream meal-kits that send pre-portioned ingredients and recipes right to your doorstep. I always thought they were interesting concepts but it's hard to find ones that fit my dietary needs. When Skylar suggested we try Green Chef, a meal-kit delivery service, she was excited because they actually have a Paleo plan. I was definitely skeptical. She assured me that she fully did her research on the brand (she always does) - they are a USDA-Certified Organic company, the Paleo box is Gluten-Free Certified and everything is Non-GMO. Plus, they care about protecting our Earth by ensuring they stay sustainable and traceable.

I decided to be open and give it a chance because they aligned so closely with my personal views. The service offers new menus every week, which is a big plus because sometimes with these special diets it can feel like you're stuck eating the same meals over and over. The prices lined-up closely to what I would pay to put together a Paleo dinner at home but the shipping fee was a little higher than I would have liked. Considering we were getting great food delivered right to our home, I decided it was fair.

We were excited to get our first box - the food arrived well-packaged in non-toxic freezer bags so you don't need to worry about anything spoiling on your doorstep. The dinners we decided on that week were Steak 'Frites', Shrimp Scampi and Red Curry Chicken. We decided on Steak Frites as our first meal. The 'frites' here are actually celery root which neither Skylar nor I had before so we were curious to know what it tasted like. The celery root was indeed delicious and this dinner is now easily one of my favorites. The meal took us about 30 minutes to prep and cook and the whole experience was much better than expected. The quality of the food is amazing, think: grass-fed sirloin steaks and Worcestershire-style sauce made with coconut aminos from aged coconut tree sap, and knowing that everything was good quality made me feel good.

We've been members of the service for just about 6 months now - the longest Paleo run we've ever done. I definitely credit Green Chef for helping us stay on track and really guiding us along this new lifestyle journey we finally decided to commit to together. Leftovers from dinners become delicious Paleo lunches and the moments spent cooking nutritious and wholesome meals with Skylar are irreplaceable. I have become a big advocate for the Paleo living and Green Chef has made it very easy for us to stick with it.
