If you think 32-year-old Miley Cyrus is jealous of younger starlets on the rise, you’re completely wrong. Miley is – and always will be – the pop icon of our dreams! She rose to fame on Disney Channel playing the lovable role of Hannah Montana, starting when she was 13.
As she’s gotten older, she hasn’t slowed down in her music career. The best part? She’s gracefully making space for young pop singers currently rising up the ranks. Here’s how Miley genuinely feels about Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter.
It’s All Love From Miley Cyrus… Zero Jealousy or Resentment
When asked about Sabrina and Chappell’s talents during an interview on The Zane Lowe Show, Miley gushed about both starlets with the highest praise. She said, “I thought Sabrina and Chappell both at the Grammys this year… it was over the top pro singing. I’m just a big fan, and I support those girls all the way.”
When speaking about their performances on the Grammy Awards stage earlier this year, Miley added, “I know that both of them were probably choking on their heart because it’s so much pressure, and they just nailed it. And Sabrina at SNL 50 blew my mind.”
Sabrina is currently 26 years old, and Chappell is 27, which means they aren’t much younger than Miley. However, they certainly haven’t put in as many years in the entertainment industry. As a reminder, Miley originally started filming Hannah Montana in 2006.
In contrast, Sabrina’s acting career didn’t truly take off for her until she snagged a leading role in Girl Meets World on Disney Channel in 2014. Her reputation as a singer lit up when she released “Espresso” in 2024. Chappell’s been releasing music since 2014, but the world didn’t really take notice until she burst onto the scene with “Good Luck, Babe” in 2024.
Mutual Respect Between Miley Cyrus, Chappell Roan, & Sabrina Carpenter
This isn’t the first time Miley has spoken positively about both of these vivacious, younger starlets. In November of last year, Miley opened up on Chappell’s behalf after Chappell complained that she was constantly being bombarded and harassed by oodles fans.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Miley empathized with Chappell, saying, “I wish people would not give her a hard time. It’s probably really hard coming into this business with phones and Instagram. That wasn’t always a part of my life, and I’m not a part of it now. I don’t even have my Instagram password.”
At the time, Chappell caught a lot of flak for opening up about how fame had wrecked her sense of privacy. Trolls in her comment sections said she should never have pursued a career in the spotlight if she wasn’t ready to handle s*** fans. Miley’s response in that Harper’s Bazaar quote was pure class — thoughtful and genuinely supportive.
Sabrina, on the other hand, has fan-girled over Miley for literal years. When she was 10 years old, she met Miley for the first time after winning a contest. Sabrina’s win meant she was invited to attend Miley‘s Wonder Tour in Philadelphia and participate in a “meet and greet.”
Sabrina described the magical moment to Morning Call, saying, “I was kind of starstruck. It was a really awesome experience. She told me I was doing awesome in the contest. I wish I could do it all over again. It was really cool.”
The “Please Please Please” singer grew up looking up to Miley and seeing her as an inspiration. As of now, she’s received vocal support from the legendary “Flowers” songstress herself. Talk about a full-circle moment!
Miley will continue to be a legend, regardless of any fresh popstars making names for themselves. We know this! But it’s still charming to see that jealousy and resentment doesn’t exist between these millennial and Gen-Z pop icons.
