The Best Hair Growth Supplements On The Market Reviewed

Hair loss is a natural part of life, but if you’ve been stressed out, it can feel personal.

It’s incredibly common, and a major search term over the last couple years (we wonder why…) So, our editors wanted to tackle hair loss by finding the absolute best products on the market that can bring hair back to its former glory.

We require a natural solution that tackles hair at the roots (no pun intended) - no minoxidil, the compound found in brands like Rogaine that’s got a long, long list of side effects. Our editors narrowed it down to 2 products: Moon Juice’s SuperHair and Nutrafol’s Women.

Both are supplements designed to help with hair growth, but we wanted to find the best value.

Here are our thoughts:

Key Similarities

  • Both are daily oral supplements
  • Both are designed explicitly for hair growth

Key Differences

  • Nutrafol is a hair growth brand - Moon Juice is a broader wellness brand
  • Moon Juice offers a vegan blend - Nutrafol is not suitable for vegans

Moon Juice SuperHair

Moon Juice caught our attention for their holistic “unstress” model. All of their supplements are carefully curated with a sustainably-sourced balance of adaptogens, vitamins, and botanical ingredients for maximum potency.

Here’s what’s inside:

  • Organic Ashwagandha and Ginseng help balance hormones and reduce the effects of stress
  • Vitamins A, the 5 B’s, C, D, E, and K address nutrient deficiencies
  • Saw Palmetto & Pumpkin Seed inhibit DHT to support healthy follicles
  • Horsetail & Biotin contribute to thicker, smoother, stronger hair

Moon Juice touts bioavailable, bioactive compounds for peak absorption and 100% traceable, unadulterated, sustainably sourced ingredients (a.k.a. The Good Stuff). Within at least 4 weeks of daily usage, you should begin to notice thicker, fuller hair.

We love Moon Juice’s focus on quality ingredients in all of their products. Their sourcing is next-level. And each ingredient is carefully selected to provide a specific benefit. For example, the Ashwagandha in SuperHair is from Pradesh, India.

It only costs $54 for a month’s supply when you subscribe.

Nutrafol

Nutrafol has become one of the more well-known brands for hair growth. It’s their main focus, and we looked into their bestselling “Women” wellness product.

Nutrafol proudly does not include gluten, dairy, soy, hormones, drugs, or artificial additives in their supplements. But it was a little trickier to find what they do include.

Here’s what’s inside:

  • Hyaluronic Acid and Types I & III Collagen*
  • Ashwagandha
  • Vitamins A, C, and D, Zinc, and Iodine
  • Saw Palmetto
  • Horsetail, Japanese Knotweed, Black Pepper, Capsicum, Biotin

*Their collagen is sourced from North Atlantic Cod, so this product is not suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Through their supplements, Nutrafol claims to target the 6 causes of hair loss: hormones, stress, lifestyle, metabolism, nutrition, and aging. Although their ingredient list is similar to SuperHair, we’re shocked by the jump in price.

If you subscribe, it’s $79 for a month’s supply.

Final Notes

Both products are a step in the right direction. With a holistic approach and targeted ingredients, either of these can be an asset to your hair wellness journey.

But our personal favorite? SuperHair by Moon Juice. Although both supplements contain vitamins that target hair growth, the adaptogenic edge and multivitamin property that Moon Juice provides will keep us coming back. Though Nutrafol also focuses on reducing levels of stress, Moon Juice is the storied expert, with an entire line of ‘unstressing’ products that build a healthier you from the inside out.

We’ll close out with a customer review that sums it all up.

Love It!!I’ve been using SuperHair for a year now…I won’t stop as my hair has never been healthier. I notice less hair falls out when I shower and my hair has never been this long in my life. Even the baby hairs by my hairline have grown back!” - Lara M.
