Ways to Reduce Working From Home Stress

The transition from working at the office to working from home may have felt like a refreshing change at first, but a year into the pandemic, working from home has probably presented you with plenty of challenges that have bogged you down with stress. To help you push forward, here are some ways to reduce work-at-home stress.

Take Time to Move Around

Being stuck at your desk all day may leave you feeling antsy and struggling to focus—and this only leads to stress as you struggle to keep your attention on your work. One of the best ways to handle this kind of anxiousness is to take a small break and move around. This might be a short walk around the block or some basic exercises like push-ups and jumping jacks. This will burn off some energy, help you wake back up as your blood flow increases, and make your mind feel sharper. When you finally do sit back down again, you'll feel refreshed and motivated.

Separate Home and Work

When working at home, you may have a hard time separating your private life from your work life, as the two now live under the same roof. If possible, dedicate your work to a room in your home that you don't spend much time in during your daily life—whether this is a basement or a guest room. Working in a high-traffic place, like a kitchen, makes it difficult to get work out of your mind when your at-home office is always in sight. You can't truly sit down and relax after work when you're constantly worrying about tasks you still have on your plate.

Find Ways to Relax

Once the workday is over, there are a few ways to reduce work-at-home stress so that you feel refreshed and ready for the next day. If you find yourself having trouble relaxing, something supplemental like CBD flower is a great way to wind down at the end of the day. Other methods include relaxing incenses or activities, such as treating yourself to a nice bath or meal.

Whatever you do, show yourself compassion. This isolation has been difficult, and sometimes you just need to step back and recollect yourself before pushing through the rest of your day. Endeavor to work only during business hours and completely avoid anything work-related during your time off. Finding the balance is key.
